How true is this statement! We all have desires and wishes to be something more, but how often do we just say we will do something and then never actually follow through? For me I would say it is the fear of failure that holds me back, and no doubt I am not alone in this. We often don’t like to admit it out loud, let alone to ourselves. But I must admire those who try and fail at things, than those who never try at all. I believe this is what brought me to finally step out of the comfort of my little box, where I could tell myself each day that I was fully capable of doing what I aspired to – just never was the right time. We can say this to ourselves for a life time, but then nothing ever comes of it. It is never the right time! This was a hard realisation for me. It took my best friend and life companion to finally give me that push I needed. He held up the mirror to my face and made me see how afraid I was of trying to make something of myself, become what I always dreamed of, but never had the courage to do. It’s a lot of hard work this becoming an entrepreneur and public creative. There’s a lot to learn and there always will be. The challenges never end. Its gruelling and exhausting. There’s pitfalls and failures. It takes courage to put yourself out there and allow yourself to be criticized – but in the end you have one very powerful thing to respond with: that is that at least you create, you sweat and bare your soul to all those who dare criticize and devalue what you do. You allow inspiration to find you, because you are constantly in motion. My partner once told me something that resonated with me and that was – that nature abhors a vacuum. And it is so true; if you clear yourself of all that pent up emotional clutter there will open a space for all sorts of new inspiration (of course for hoarders this is in fact a confirmed illness and should not be nurtured). It is up to you to give up those regrets, those maybes and what ifs. And so what if you encounter failure – it doesn’t mean that is the end, only that there is room for improvement and new opportunities.
